I’m quite surprised that it’s been over a week since I updated this blog! A lot of things kept me busy these past few days.  For one, Manang took a 4-day leave of absence, leaving me doing all the household chores (except the laundry which I try to avoid as much as possible), while making sure that our 3-year  old makulit is not doing anything fishy behind my back, like eating a big portion of his powdered milk, pouring hand sanitizer all over our puppy, or spraying my favorite perfume inside our toilet like an air freshener.  I’m so glad my sister came over to help me get through those days.  Thank God for sisters to the rescue!

Another thing that kept me from writing was the Kobo eReader that hubby sent as Christmas gift!  Now, there’s a diversion I sooo love!

And speaking of gifts from hubby, I don’t have a habit of asking any material thing from him, especially gadgets. I think part of the reason is that it’s not in my personality to ask other people, even my parents, for something unless I need it very badly; and the other part of the reason is that I trust my husband’s generosity enough to know that he’ll always make an effort to give me something even if I don’t ask for it.

I’m ever grateful that hubby never said a word against my love for reading.  He respects my love for books, maybe even more than I respect his love for cars and motorcycles.  I remember our first trip together to Manila and how he patiently accompanied me from bookstore to bookstore.  One of my favorite at-home moments with him is when he’s tinkering his motorcycle and he would tell me to bring whatever I’m reading to the garage and sit beside him while he’s working.  I do my own thing, he does his own thing, and yet, I still feel that we’re just as connected.

Now, going back to my latest craze that is Kobo. Hubby told that he’d buy me an eReader when he goes back onboard.  Maybe, he noticed  the way I lug my netbook all over the house just to read my ebooks. Or maybe, he just loves me  for the bookworm (or eBookworm?) that I am. I really didn’t mind the lugging as long as I can read, but then, he started mentioning about eReaders and how they’re more convenient to bring even when we’re travelling.  My goodness, I couldn’t get the idea out of my mind for days!

Just weeks after he went onboard, he called from Canada and told me that he already bought a Kobo for me and he’s going to send it the following week.  Oh my, I thought I was going to faint from excitement!  Call me mababaw ang kaligayahan, but really, my kaligayahan is just so mababaw.  I didn’t expect that his promise will be fulfilled so soon, right after he got his first salary and in time for Christmas season. I was so touched by his effort and by the sentimentality behind it.  I think I fell in love with my husband all over again ;)

I keep thinking that even if I don’t receive any other gadget as a gift from hubby the whole year next year, it’s sooo ok as long as I have my eReader.  But he doesn’t need to know that, does he?

A week has passed since I received my gift and I’m still smiling like an idiot.  You really can’t blame me..If you were me and you have all your favorite books in the palm of your hand, wouldn’t you fall in love and smile like an idiot too?

Hi Anna! I got mine from Canada too! You can download from kobobooks.com, some ebooks there are even for free. And speaking of free ebooks, if you have a specific title on mind, you can google it and you'll find several sites where you can download it for free. If you need any help about your new Kobo, you can send me a message. I'm not much of a Kobo expert but I'll try my best to answer your queries. Good luck! ;)
